Format Guidelines
- One column, top to bottom. ATS software reads left to right, line by line. Sidebars, tables and text boxes often get jumbled or skipped.
- Standard headings: Professional Summary, Skills, Work Experience, Education, Certifications. Creative headings like "My Journey" confuse parsers.
- No photo, icons or graphics. They carry no text for the ATS and can break parsing. Keep contact details as plain text.
- Use the job advert's exact words. If the advert says "Sales Tax Returns", write that, not just "indirect tax". Paste the job description below the form to see missing keywords.
- Achievements with numbers: "Filed 120+ income tax returns per season" beats "Responsible for tax returns".
- File type: upload the Word (.docx) file or the PDF made with Print / Save as PDF. Both keep real, selectable text. Never upload a scanned image of your CV.
